Mk Yurttaş, 5533 ve Performistanbul işbirliğiyle 1 Nisan - 6 Mayıs 2023 tarihleri arasında O.B.A. isimli performans araştırma projesini sergiliyor.
Bir posthuman (insan sonrası) duyusal coğrafya tahayyülü olarak tarif edilen proje, ismini "Organizmalar Birer Algoritmadır" cümlesinin baş harflerinden ve sanatçının çocukluğundan gençliğine kadar yaz aylarında yaşadığı oba isimli yapılardan alıyor.
Her cumartesi aynı saatlerde farklı bir performans ve etkinliğin deneyimleneceği proje 1 Nisan'da "Organizmalar Birer Algoritmadır" isimli ilk performans ile başlıyor. Takip eden haftalardaki her bir cumartesi ise sırasıyla O, B ve A harfleriyle ilişkilenen dörder saatlik dört farklı performansı içeriyor. Haftanın üç günü deneyimlenebilen proje, pazartesi ve cuma günleri ise "oba" isimli canlı süreç/performans enstalasyonu ile dört hafta boyunca devam ediyor.

Organizmalar Birer Algoritmadır* posthuman (insan sonrası) bir ağıttır.
Organizmaların enformasyon-oluşunu kutlar ve yasını tutar; yeniden doğumuna, ölümüne ve benzeri yaşamsal ikiliklerden geçişine eşlik eder.
İzleyicileri İstanbul'un Fatih Kadırga semtindeki 450 yıllık bir Mimar Sinan eseri olan Sokullu Mehmet Paşa Camii Külliyesi’nin avlusuna davet eden performans, avlunun ses/mekan deneyimi ile başlar.
Deneyim avludan İMÇ Blokları'na doğru kolektif bir yürüyüş ile devam eder ve ardından İMÇ koridorları ve 5533'te Mk’nın insan sesinin mekan ve bedenlerdeki titreşimi ile oluşan performansı ile sonlanır.
Performansın ses kaydı ise sergi boyunca pazartesi ve cuma günleri 5533’te deneyim edilebilir.

oba, O.B.A. projesine ismini veren ve sanatçının çocukluğundan gençliğine kadar yaz aylarında yaşadığı oba isimli yapıları ‘yeniden’ üretir. oba (sanatçının pratiğini personalardan oluşan bir sanatçı kolektifi olarak tanımladığı) mikaye’deki Mk Yurttaş ile Efe Meral’in işbirliğini sergiler ve Rhodesia’nın kırılganlık, yaralanabilirlik ve çuvallama’ya çalan (-ish) queer tonlarıyla temas eder.
Performans, “kamp” kelimesinin mimari (alan/bölge) ile queer’i birleştiren eş sesliliğini, deniz kenarında bir yazlık kampta “büyüme” deneyiminin kimlik ve köklerden muaf olabilme ihtimali ile, ironi ve kitsch’le benzeşen camp estetiğinin ana akımın dışında kalabilme ihtimali üzerinden düşünür. Bu ve diğer ihtimaller dahilinde 5533’te Mk’nın performansı ile üreyen geçici strüktürler, her an dağılabilen, düzensiz bir şekilde çoğalan, dışarıya sızan ve yok olabilen yapılar olarak deneyimlenirler.

O performansı harf ve ses ilişkisinin eksenini dilbilgisinden posthuman ara kesitine kaydırır. Mekanda çoğalan “O” sesleri ile “O”yu şahıs referanslı insan odağından çıkarmaya ve yalnızca “he, she ya da it” olmayan “Onlar”ın dolaşımını sergilemeye niyet eder.
Mk performansta “O” seslerinin tek kaynağı olmama isteğiyle, izleyicileri kendi “O” seslerini çıkararak “O”ların dolaşıklığına katkıda bulunmaya davet eder.
Performansın ses kaydı ise sergi boyunca pazartesi ve cuma günleri 5533’te deneyim edilebilir.

5533’ü katılıma açık bir performans stüdyosuna dönüştürerek O.B.A.’nın B harfini deneyime açan çalışma, deneyimcilerin iç seslerini birbirleriyle buluşturmaya niyet eder.
Babasız Kızlar Balosu’ndan bir şarkı, bir tanışma uygulamasından yazışmalar, inorganik maddelerle üretilen organizma replikaları, bir günlük astroloji uygulamasının tavsiyesine bağlı Chris Burden’ın Shoot performansıyla hafifleşmeler, boğaz-temas sesleri ve 1 saatliğine baba olma ile açılan ve kapanan duyusal alanların kesişimlerini araştırır.

Mk Yurttaş presents their performance research project titled O.B.A., in collaboration with 5533 and Performistanbul, between April 1 and May 6, 2023.
The project is described as an imagination of posthuman sensory geography and takes its name from the initials of the sentence "Organisms Are Algorithms" (in Turkish; “Organizmalar Birer Algoritmadır” and from the structures named “oba” where the artist lived, from their childhood to youth, for months in summer. .
As part of the project, a different performance and event will be experienced each Saturday at the same time. The first performance titled "Organisms Are Algorithms" starts on April 1, with a sound/space experience in the Courtyard of the Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Mosque Complex situated in Istanbul's Fatih / Kadırga district and continues with a collective walk from the courtyard to İMÇ (Istanbul Drapers' Bazaar) Blocks. Following the walk, the performance is brought to the corridors of İMÇ and finally to 5533. Each Saturday of the upcoming weeks comprises four distinct-performances of four hours, each associated with the letters O, B and A respectively.
The project, which can be experienced three days a week, lasts for four weeks with a live process / performance installation called "oba" open to visitors on both Mondays and Fridays.

Organisms Are Algorithms* is a posthuman requiem. It celebrates becoming-information of organisms and mourns their death; accompanies their rebirth, death, and passage through similar vital dichotomies.
The performance, inviting the audience to the courtyard of the Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Mosque Complex, a 450-year-old work of Mimar Sinan, in Istanbul's Fatih Kadırga district, begins with the sound/space experience of the courtyard. The experience continues with a collective walk from the courtyard to the İMÇ Blocks, and then ends with the performance of Mk at İMÇ corridors and 5533, with the vibration of the human voice in space and bodies.
The sound recording of the performance can be experienced at 5533 on Mondays and Fridays throughout the exhibition.

“oba'' gives its name to the O.B.A. project and 'reproduces' the structures called oba, where the artist lived during the summers from their childhood to their youth. The work exhibits the collaboration of Mk Yurttaş and Efe Meral in mikaye (where the artist defines their practice as an artist collective made up of personas) and touches the queer(ish) tones of fragility, vulnerability and failure of Rhodesia.
The performance thinks about the homophony of the word “camp” related to the architecture (area/region) and the queer; over the possibility that the experience of "growing up" in a summer camp by the sea may be free of identity and roots, and the possibility of camp aesthetics, alike irony and kitsch, being out of the mainstream. The temporary structures reproduced by the performance of Mk in 5533 within these and other possibilities, are experienced as constructions that tend to disintegrate at any moment, multiply irregularly, leak out and disappear.

“O” performance is shifting the axis of the letter and sound relationship from the grammatical to the intersection of posthuman - queer. With the "O" sounds that multiply in the space, the performance intends to remove the "he/she/it" from the person-referenced human focus to exhibit the circulation of 'they/them' who are not only "he/she/it".
Desiring not to be the only source of "O" sounds in the performance, Mk invites the audience to contribute to their entanglement by making their own "O" sounds.
The sound recording of the performance can be experienced at 5533 on Mondays and Fridays throughout the exhibition.

The work opens the letter B of O.B.A. to experience by transforming 5533 into a performance studio open to participation and intends to bring the inner voices of the experiencers together.
The experience explores the intersection of sensory fields opening and closing with a song from Fatherless Girls' Ball, a small talk on a dating app, replicas of organisms made with inorganic materials, soft talk/alleviations on Chris Burden's Shoot performance connected to an advice on a daily astrology app, throat-contact sounds and being a father for 1 hour.
