Boşluklarda Dans, Ceyda Oskay’ın 5533’te kuracağı baskılı kumaş enstalasyonu başlangıç alan, bedensel ve coğrafi sınır aşımını konu eden bir deneysel hareket atölyesi. 14-18 Ağustos tarihleri arasında gerçekleşecek olan atölyede, insanın göç sırasında yeni mekânlarla karşılaştığı veya evine geri döndüğü anlarda ortaya çıkan duygular takip edilerek oluşturulan kareografi, kumaşlar ve kıyafetler aracılığıyla prova edilecek.
Boşluklarda Dans’ın ilk birkaç günü sanatçı, on metrelik bir kağıda İMÇ’den imgelerin de dahil olduğu bazı eskizler yapar ve bunları, mekânda bulunan aynı boyuttaki bir kumaşa aktarır. Kumaştaki desenlere göre kesilmiş parçalar bazı aşamalardan geçip atölyenin katılımcıları için kıyafetlere dönüşür; arta kalan boşluklu insan figürleri, dansa yol göstermesi için mekânda asılı kalır. Hem atölye esnasında kaydedilen, hem de sonrasında kıyafetleri alıp götüren katılımcılardan gelen videolar, sanatçı tarafından tek bir video olarak kurgulanır ve filmin gösterimi sene içinde 5533’te gerçekleşir.
14-18 Ağustos tarihlerinde, Pazartesi’den Cuma’ya her gün 14:00-16:00 saatleri arasında gerçekleşecek olan atölyeye katılım ücretsizdir. Katılımcılardan dans bilgisi veya becerisinden ziyade “göç” deneyimine dair duygudaşlık aranıyor. Atölye saatleri katılımcılara göre günden güne değişiklik gösterebilir. Katılımda devamlılık öneriliyor olsa da şart değildir. Atölyenin bazı bölümleri sanatçının daha sonra bir video üretmesi amacıyla, kişinin izni alınarak fotoğraf ve video olarak kaydedilecektir.

“Dance Through Spaces” is an experimental movement workshop that focuses on overcoming bodily and geographical borders, beginning with the printed fabric installation Ceyda Oskay will set up in 5533. The workshop includes a choreography created through pursuing the arising emotions when one experiences a brand-new place due to migration, or when they return home, will be rehearsed using fabrics and clothing materials.
In the first few days of “Dance Through Spaces”, the artist draws some sketches within the space, including images from İMÇ, on a ten-meter sheet of paper and transfers them on a fabric of the same size. The pieces cut according to the patterns on the fabric go through several stages before turning into clothes for the participants; remaining cavitied human figures continue to hang in the space as they guide the dance. The videos both recorded during the workshop and recieved from the participants who’d take away the clothes afterwards will be edited together by the artist, creating a film that will be screened at 5533 throughout the year.
“Dance Through Spaces” takes place between 2 pm and 4 pm every day from Monday to Friday, between 14 – 18 August. Participation is free of charge and no dance knowledge or skills are expected from the participants, but empathy about migration experiences is required. Workshop hours may vary depending on the participants. Continuity in participation is recommended, but not required. With the permission of each participant, some parts of the workshop will be recorded as photographs and videos for the purpose of the film that the artist will later produce.
